Some have asked if this World Mission Sunday photo was taken from stock photos? No, that’s Missionary John Page in Cambodia. John’s wife Louela is from here in the Philippines. They have two children, Gracia who is four and Khayden 6 months. We get to see them a lot as John and Louela visit here often. In fact we will attend Gracia’s birthday and Khayden’s dedication next week.
What is your church doing on Sunday, February 23? CELEBRATING WORLD MISSION SUNDAY. With just four weeks to go make it a wonderful day to pray and give to missions. Invite a furloughing missionary, or ask a missionary to make a short video for you to show in church. We are the Baptist MISSIONARY Association. So, lets all pull together and put into practice our namesake!
Filipinos LOVE a celebration so we celebrate two New Years, the world wide one on January 1st and the Chinese New Year on January 25th. Donna and I headed to the small island of Guimaras to be part of a baby dedication. 2nd semester began at the Bible College. One of our graduates, who is the missionary on Guimaras was ordained and we continued to prepare for our furlough departure in March.
Look at some pictures and then notice our furlough schedule below.
Donna’s Health Class
What sometimes seems insignificant in the U.S. is especially difficult for people in a third world country. The recent eruption of Mount Taal caused lots of respiratory problems. Now the Corona-virus has come to the Philippines. Since the people here are so poor they do not have access to alternative housing and medical care. This makes natural disaster especially dangerous. Be praying for our people during these difficult circumstances.

Praise the Lord, our first matching fund drive was met. We now have four class rooms paid for with eight to go. Please consider helping in anyway you can. We would love to dedicate classrooms in memory or in honor of anyone giving.
Right near our house is a tourist attraction called The Ruins. During World War II, when the Japanese were about to take the Philippines, this sugar cane plantation was burned by the owners to prevent its use by the Japanese. It is still a burn out shell today but, used for weddings and local cultural tours.
We will depart the Philippines for furlough March 19. After a stop off in Los Angeles we will head on to Texas. May with our daughter in Columbia, Missouri
June with my Mom in Huntsville, Alabama
July with our Home church in Magnolia, Arkansas

This semester I am teaching Acts and the Pauline Epistles, Church Choir Administration, voice lessons and preparing for our up-coming World Mission Day emphases.
We are a bit nervous concerning the Corona-Virus and the possible travel restrictions which might affect us. Missionaries are always looking for the cheapest flights and this time ours was with Air China. Of course their hub is in Beijing. So, we have to travel from Manila to Beijing to catch our onward flight to Los Angeles. We arrive in LA on Wednesday and speak on Friday. PRAY!!!!!!!

School started back for the second semester and I’ve had lots of fun teaching Health and Physical Education. As the campus nurse I try to keep the students well. I just re-stocked our pharmacy with new medicines. Recently a student with chickenpox had to be sent home. Most children here to not have access to any preventative vaccinations. Stan and I traveled to Guimaras for a baby dedication and it is always great to support our graduates in their ministries. Remember us in your prayers and I’d be glad to visit any WMA or VBS groups while home.
Our work is completely focused on making sure the Gospel is taught in our weekly home Bible study, the sending of the Gospel to Southeast Asian countries, the training of pastors and missionaries at the Bible College and church planting in the Philippines and all over Southeast Asia. Would you help us? $1,000.00 a year goes a long way here, helping us train church planters, send missionaries and train students. Click on the donate button below, locate the Scroggins/Philippine fund and prayerfully consider contributing to help us. We love you all.
